3D segmentation of the image for every slices of the 2-D image is carried out through iterative applications of the active contour models. This segmentation process helps in segmenting the target region in all the slices. Segmentation of fine structures from the target object in an image is possible with this active contour models.2-D and 3-D segmentation of the medical images is performed to obtain the exact target object for identification, detection and diagnosis of any abnormal or unwanted changes in the human body. It is also find accuracy, specificity and Sensitivity of the process.
In medical imaging, active contours are used in segmentation of regions to process the input information which is available in the form of an image.
With the process of segmentation, desired output from the pixels of interest is obtained. Contour of the target object from the image is defined based on the edge.
