The human perception isn't built for observing fine changes in grayscale images. Human eyes are more sensitive to observe the changes between colors and need to recolor grayscale images. Open CV now comes with various color maps to enhance the visualization in computer vision application. Also, OpenCV is the only method for applying colormap on a given image.
